Welcome native wildlife into your backyard with this microbat nesting box.

Bats play a vital role in the health of our ecosystems and are a natural insect controller – eating a wide range of mosquitoes, moths, beetles, bugs and other insects.

Microbats typically nest in the hollows of mature trees but as urbanisation increases, many housing blocks and parks are lacking adequate shelter. This leaves fewer places for hollow-dwelling species such as microbats to breed and rest in safety. Artificial nesting boxes give microbats a safe, dry refuge in which to roost during the day.

This box is suitable for microbats only, not their larger fruit-eating bat cousins!

Product specifications

The box measures approximately 38 cm (H) x 30 cm (W) x 12 cm (D).  There may be slight differences in the wood and finish of the boxes made by different Sheds. Some attach shade cloth to the internal walls of the bat box, while others use closely-spaced grooves to provide a safe gripping surface for microbats. All offer the same safety and functionality for microbats.

Each box comes with two screws for attaching it to a tree or building.
